Die Distanz Zwischen Dir und Mir is the title of the group show of Picture Berlin 2015 residency artists who developped new work during their stay and showcased elements from their process.
The artists explored their art practice through a variety of media, from photography, video, performance, installation to textile and urban interventions.
Through out this variety of mediums, the notions of performativity and processuality are a red line that bounds their work whilst exploring the summer program.
PICTURE BERLIN can be seen as a collective performance stretched across time over the course of 6 weeks in the fabric of the city of Berlin. It offers public programming to the extended Berlin art scene through a series of lectures, exhibition openings and panel discussions.
PICTURE BERLIN, founded in 2009, by artist April Gertler, is a not for profit artist-initiated hybrid residency/art academy. The Summer Session encourages an active discourse in issues surrounding contemporary art while simultaneously giving the resident artists a chance to develop their work.
